Niger Investment Code
Niger has established an investment code with fiscal and customs incentives for the realization of investments and for an exploitation phase of five years, with three regimes:
- Regime A: Promotional regime, for investments of 25 million CFA francs (US$35,000) or above
- Regime B: Priority regime, for investments of 50 million CFA francs (US$70,000) or above
- Regime C: Conventional regime for large businesses with investments of at least 2billion CFA francs (US$2.8 million)
In addition, mining and petroleum codes detail simplified procedures for granting prospecting, research and exploitation permits, and allow for specific fiscal measures granting special incentives to investors:
- diversified mining sector
- possibilities in the agricultural, pastoral, industrial, tourism, transport, trade, and services sectors
- inexpensive and large labor force with a young population
- government policies aimed at liberalizing the economy, encouraging private investment and the privatization of public companies
- an institutional and judicial environment in compliance with WTO and OHADA norms
- favorable geostrategic position between North and West Africa, in the center of the UEMOA and ECOWAS, with a market of more than 200 million consumers.
